[story] Reuters says Anthropic will pay Akamai eleven point six billion dollars for cloud over seven years. The Wall Street Journal says Akamai can also buy up to five percent of Anthropic. The Decoder puts Anthropic's cloud bills past five hundred billion dollars in a year. The vendor is now a shareholder. [closer] The boring detail is the whole story. Your cloud provider is supposed to be neutral. Akamai now owns a piece of the outcome, so Akamai needs Anthropic to WIN. That is not a supplier anymore. That's a believer with an invoice.
