[opener] Meta wants a body now. Facebook, with legs. Hi FRIENDS!! The company that knows your face now wants legs, and a Chinese startup is reportedly doing the building. [story] Reuters says The Information has Meta building a humanoid robot with a Chinese startup called Fourier. One outlet has this, so pencil not pen. A humanoid in your kitchen is somebody's JOB, standing in your kitchen. So: would you let Meta's robot fold your laundry and watch you do it? [closer] The interesting word in this whole story is Fourier, not robot. Hardware gets built where the factories are. Right now the humanoid factories are in China, not Menlo Park. So the robot is META'S, the hands that build it are not, and somewhere a Senate staffer just opened a new tab.
